Whitesnake were supposed to headline the Donnington Festival in August 1989. This was cancelled (not due to Whitesnake). The tour start was thus postponed to February 1990, with Vandenberg back in the ship (though still not fully recovered). They did however headline the Donington festival in August 1990. After the tours of 1990, Coverdale decided to put Whitesnake on ice in order to think over his future.
